Dermaroller

Dermaroller

Dermaroller is a device with moving stainless steel roller that contains very sharp needles on itself. The Dermaroller comes with a hand-held tool with a small wheel which have hundreds of microneedles throughout the wheels. These needles are made of medical grade stainless steels and are rolled over skin to treat various skin disorders. This process is also known as microneedling . It is used for wrinkles, scar, celluloid, stretch marks and hair loss. It is one of the noble treatment which is on OPD basis. There is no need to get admitted that is why it is also known as an “office hour procedure”.

Theory behind Dermarolling

The concept of microneedling is to damage the upper layer skin enough to create a signal to the brain that tells the skin to regenerate and rejuvenate itself. It is essentially puncturing the skin with needles to stimulate new skin cells. Derma rollers comes up with different needle sizes for different skin concerns. We can even get rid of really intense stretch marks and acne with dermarollers.

Procedure

The dermaroller is rolled over the skin in different directions over the concerned area. Due to the sharp needles, they create multiple minor injuries over the upper part of the skin or epidermal injuries which forms a lot of micro-channels through drugs are poured in the skin and thus it act as a drug delivery system. Also, due to multiple micro trauma skin healing process gets started which stimulate the platelets and cytokines aggregate in that area which improves the area beneath the upper layer of skin. With the occurrence of platelets, various platelet derived growth factors and lots of stem cells starts vascularisation and improved blood supply which ultimately leads to rejuvenated, hydrated and glowing skin.

Concern Treated: Dermaroller is useful in skin conditions like:

  • Acne scars
  • open pores
  • skin rejuvenation
  • Anti-ageing
  • Pigmentatory disorders

At Doctor’s point, dermaroller are used in combination with other laser treatments modalities to treat above-mentioned skin aliments. We do not advice dermaroller on patients with viral infection, skin sensitivity, active acne and pain sensitivity.
